Police Clearance

The Consulate does not issue Police Clearance Certificates for Bangladesh or Foreign nationals. The applicant has to submit the document directly to the concerned authority. However, following procedures are needed be completed prior to applying for the certificate.

Note: Due to COVID-19 public health emergency, service seekers are encouraged  to get their desired services through postal mail. If you plan to come in person, please book an appointment online from the homepage prior visiting.

  1. Filled in application form [download application form]
  2. One (1) copy of passport size photograph
  3. Original valid Bangladesh passport and photocopy of the bio-metric page of the passport
  4.  An application addressed to the concerned Commissioner of Police/ Superintendent of Police/ Officer-in-Charge in Bangladesh (in accordance with the permanent address of the applicant) mentioning the authorized person’s details who will submit the application and collect the police clearance certificate from the police authority
  5. Self-addressed pre-paid registered express return envelope or pre-paid courier (for mail-in-service).
  6. Service fee transaction receipt

The application form and photocopy of relevant pages of Bangladesh Passport will be attested by the Consulate and these documents along with the original Bangladesh Passport will be sent back to the applicant. The applicant can submit their form by visiting the following link:

Or, sending the attested documents to the concerned Commissioner of Police / Superintendent of Police / Officer-in-Charge in Bangladesh for taking necessary action in this regard. The applicant will have to authorise a person (in-writing) in Bangladesh to collect the police clearance certificate on his / her behalf from the concerned police office when it will be issued.

While walk-in service is available during consular hours, booking appointment online at the homepage of the Consulate prior to visiting the Consulate is suggested to avoid long waiting time.

The applicants are advised to read the following carefully prior to proceeding further:

  1. Consular fees are received for processing of applications. Hence, fees are non-refundable even if an application is denied or withdrawn.
  2. Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra and Bangladesh Consulate General in Sydney are two separate entities. Service can’t be provided by the Consulate against a payment made to the High Commission in Canberra.
  3. Fees are subject to change without prior notice.
  4. The payment of the fee shall be made at least 03 working days prior to submitting the application form.
  5. A copy of the payment transaction receipt shall be attached with the application form.
  6. Cash/personal cheque/Direct Deposit is not accepted.
  7. Credit card/EFTPOS payment is possible at the consular counter. Transaction fee of the card company will apply in addition to the consular fees.

Fees: A$ 15.00

Mode of Payment

The fees may be paid in one of the following ways:

  1. Postal money order/bank cheque payable to Consulate General of Bangladesh; or
  2. Credit card/EFTPOS payment at the Consulate. Transaction charge of the card company will apply in addition to the consular fees; or,
  3. Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT):

N.B.: The Consulate General of Bangladesh is not responsible for documents lost or delayed in mail / Courier.

The delivery of the documents may be obtained in the following ways:

  1. By the applicant in person; or,
  2. By authorized person. In this case, a letter of authorization issued by the applicant as well as proof of identity of the authorized person (photo IDs such as driving license, passport etc.) shall be required in addition to the delivery slip; or,
  3. By postal mail. In this case, self-addressed pre-paid Express envelope/Courier (signature on delivery) shall be sent to the Consulate while sending/submitting the application.
