Attestation of Documents

Attestation/Endorsement of documents

The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Sydney attest different types of documents that include:

  1. Marriage Certificate;
  2. Educational Certificate;
  3. Commercial documents for business houses trading with Bangladesh or requiring the documents to be submitted to the authorities in Bangladesh; and
  4. Miscellaneous documents etc.

 

‘Power of Attorney’ documents can not be attested as per the instruction of the, ‘The Power of Attorney Act-2015.

ATTESTATION/ENDORSEMENT OF DOCUMENTS
  1. Documents originating in Bangladesh must first be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka.
  2. Documents originating in Australia first must be attested/authenticated by the concerned authority i.e. Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia (DFAT) before submitting to the Consulate General for attestation. Please check with the concerned authorities (DFAT) for their specific requirements for authentication/attestation of the documents.
  3. Personal appearance before the Consular Officer of the Consulate is not obligatory if the document is attested by Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia.
  4. All Education degrees/documents of Bangladesh must first be attested from relevant educational institutions/board of education/university and Ministry of Education and from Consular section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, Dhaka before submitting for attestation by the Consulate General of Bangladesh, Sydney.
  5. In case of name change in Bangladesh, photocopy of an affidavit attested by the appropriate authority in Bangladesh and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka.

  1. Application form (duly signed and completed) [download application form]
  2. One (1) passport-size colour photo with white background (not older than 6 months);
  3. Original document to be attested and its copy;
  4. Valid Bangladesh Passport or National ID [original & photocopy];
  5. Australian photo ID: Passport/PR card/Driver’s License [originals & photocopy];
  6. Payment receipt (if paid in advance by EFT) [Please check ‘Fees & Payment’ section for other modes of payment]

Postal Service:

  1. Documents listed above (from 1-6);
  2. Mail-in service registration from https://services.cgbdsydney.gov.bd/. Please print and include registration confirmation page with barcode with the application;
  3. Self-addressed pre-paid registered express return envelope (trackable);



Please read the following carefully before making any payment:

  1. Consular fees are received for processing applications. Hence, consular fees are non-refundable even if an application is rejected or withdrawn.
  2. Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra and Bangladesh Consulate General in Sydney are two separate entities. Service can’t be provided by the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Sydney against a payment made to the High Commission of Bangladesh in Canberra.
  3. Fees are subject to change without prior notice.
  4. The payment of the fee shall be made at least 03 working days prior to submitting the application form [In case of EFT].
  5. A copy of the payment transaction receipt shall be attached to the application form.
  6. Cash/personal cheque/Direct Deposit is NOT accepted.
  7. Credit card/EFTPOS payment is available at the consular counter. Transaction fee of the card company will be applied in addition to the consular fees.

Fees

  1. For attestation of various certificates, A$ 15.00 per copy.
  2. For attestation of affidavit/company document, A$ 11.00 for the first page and A$ 6.00 for subsequent pages.

Mode of payment

The fees may be paid in ONE of the following ways:

  1. Credit Card/EFTPOS payment at the Consulate’s service counter. [In such case, transaction surcharge of the respective card provider will be charged in addition to the consular fees];
  2. Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT);

Cash/personal cheque/Direct Deposit is NOT accepted.

Please book an appointment online and visit the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Sydney (address provided below) on the day of appointment with all required documents and photocopies.

N.B.: The Consulate General of Bangladesh is not responsible for documents lost or delayed in mail / Courier.

The delivery of the documents may be obtained in the following ways:

  1. By the applicant in person; or,
  2. By authorized person. In this case, a letter of authorization issued by the applicant as well as proof of identity of the authorized person (photo IDs such as driving license, passport etc.) shall be required in addition to the delivery slip; or,
  3. By postal mail. In this case, self-addressed pre-paid Express envelope/Courier (signature on delivery) shall be sent to the Consulate while sending/submitting the application.
